Safeguarding Policy
1. Purpose
At Little Pickles Play Cafe, we are committed to providing a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for all children. This policy outlines how we safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable individuals in our care.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and visitors.
3. Key Principles
The welfare of the child is paramount. All children have the right to protection from harm. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
4. Definitions
Safeguarding means protecting children from harm and promoting wellbeing. A child is anyone under 18.
5. Types of Abuse
Physical, emotional, sexual abuse and neglect. Staff should remain vigilant to signs.
6. Responsibilities
DSL: Owners - Simone Hiscox and Stevie Hiscox
All staff must report concerns immediately.
7. Safer Recruitment
References and identity checks are completed. DBS checks carried out where required.
8. Code of Conduct
Staff must treat children with respect and maintain professional boundaries.
9. Supervision
Children must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.
10. Health & Safety
Equipment is checked regularly. First aiders are always on site.
11. Responding to Concerns
Record concerns and report to DSL immediately. Call 999 if urgent.
12. Confidentiality
Information is stored securely and shared only when necessary.
13. Allegations Against Staff
All allegations are taken seriously and investigated.
14. Online Safety
Consent required for photos. No sharing without permission.
15. Training
All staff receive safeguarding training and refreshers.
